Zamboanga siblings pay tribute to their father

ONE Championship's Zamboanga siblings -- Denice and Drex -- paid tribute to their dad Rene as Father's Day is approaching.

Both Denice and Drex shared the same sentiments and expressed gratitude to their father who has been very supportive of their mixed martial arts and life in general.

"Ever since, he has been very supportive of us. Even when I urged Denice to take the sport, he was always there and kept us motivated every time," said Drex.

"He has always told us to pray. That's the first thing we would hear from him. He has always reminded us to be humble whatever the result is."

The same goes for Denice, who also considers her father as a huge inspiration for the path that she has taken.

Unfortunately, both Denice and Drex are holed up training in Thailand with Marrok Force in preparation for the postponed women's atomweight grand prix.

And Father's Day would be a long-distance celebration for the Zamboanga siblings.

"I really miss our family, especially my dad. That's why I just want to thank him for being so supportive of our careers, said Denice, who owns an undefeated record of 8-0.

"Everything I do, we do is for him and mama and our whole family. I wouldn't be here if not for you and I will continue to train and fight harder for you to be proud of me."

Denice is one of the eight atomweight stars set to compete in the division's inaugural tournament, matching up with South Korean veteran Seo Hee Ham in the opening round.
