A suspected drug pusher was killed and over P6.8-million worth of shabu was seized during a buy-bust operation in Camalig, Albay last Friday, June 18.

Police Major Malu Calubaquib, Police Regional Office 5 (PRO-5) spokesperson, said the suspect, Antonis Tupas, a resident of Barangay Cruzada, Legazpi City, was killed in a gunfight with the arresting cops.

The local police, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Bicol, launched an entrapment against Tupas at Purok 5, Barangay Quirangay, Camalig.

A poseur-buyer was able to buy from the suspect some 100 grams of shabu worth P300,000, according to Calubaquib.

The suspect later sensed that he was dealing with a police officer, prompting him to shoot the cop but missed. “The operatives returned fire and subdued the suspect,” Calubaquib said.

Calubaquib said that aside from the illegal drugs bought from the suspect, the police team also recovered from him a kilo of shabu with an estimated street value of P6.8 million.

The suspect was rushed to the nearest hospital but he was declared dead on arrival.
