DOH confirms 5,414 more COVID-19 cases

The country on Wednesday, June 16, recorded 5,414 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the nationwide count to 1,332,832, the Department of Health (DOH) said.

Of the total infections, 56,170 cases or 4.2 percent are still tagged as active or patients still under treatment.

Most of the active cases or 91.4 percent have mild symptoms while four percent are asymptomatic. Also, 1.3 percent are in critical condition, 1.9 percent have severe symptoms, while 1.36 percent are moderate cases.

There were 7,637 new survivors, bringing the recovery tally to 1,253,541. The recovery count represents 94.1 percent of the country’s overall cases.

However, 158 more patients were confirmed to have died, raising the death count to 23,121. The case fatality rate is at 1.73 percent.

Globally, a total of 175,987,176 people were confirmed to have contracted the disease, while 3,811,561 died as of June 15, based on the COVID-19 tracker of the World Health Organization (WHO).
