PSA warns against fraudulent individuals offering falsified birth, marriage certificates

(PSA)

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) on Monday, June 14, warned the public against unauthorized entities and individuals advertising, offering, or facilitating services involving temporary corrections or applications for civil registry documents that are rampant on different social media platforms, particularly on Facebook.

"These individuals promise prospective clients that, for a fee, they can process temporary corrections of civil registry documents such as birth, marriage, and death certificates, and falsified Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR)," PSA said in a statement.

It pointed out that social media accounts have been created seemingly to legitimize representations on behalf of the PSA.

Among these are the following Facebook accounts:

PSA Online Assistance Door to Door Delivery

N.S.O. Certificate Process

PSA Online delivery

3J’ RTW Clothing & Document Services

"Please be informed that such activities are illegal. The PSA warns against participating or availing these services and encourages the public to report these accounts or individuals," PSA said.

"Falsification of official documents is a criminal act and anyone proven to have used falsified documents shall be penalized accordingly," it reiterated.

PSA said it has already sought the intervention of concerned authorities for proper actions and possible filing of cases against those providing or facilitating these unscrupulous services.
