Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) president Ramon "Tats" Suzara said that they will work doubly hard to achieve podium finishes in international tournaments as a display of commitment to their partner organizations including the Republic Biscuit Corporation (Rebisco).
"We need to have a return of investment for our partners. We need to strengthen our team and get medals for them," said Suzara during the virtual signing ceremony between the PNVF and Rebisco on Tuesday afternoon, June 15.
The two entities inked a three-year sponsorship deal, with the snack food company supporting the four national volleyball teams as well as the federations' programs and events.
Rebisco president Jonathan Ng said that "the dream is always to get a podium finish" that will surely "give some good vibes" for the avid Filipino volleyball fans especially amid the pandemic.
Suzara said that the Nationals are determined to achieve it not just for its private supporters but also for the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) and the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) which has been backing the programs of the newly-formed national sports association.
"We are not selling only one or two players, or even one national team. We are selling the federation itself, its programs," he said.
The PNVF is hoping to start getting achievements with the men's and women's beach volleyball teams that will compete in the Asian Volleyball Confederation Continental Cup, an Olympic qualifying event slated June 18-19.
For their part, the indoor teams are gearing up for the AVC Asian Women's Volleyball Championship which will be hosted by the Philippines in August and the Asian Men's Volleyball Championship in Chiba, Japan in September.
Ultimately, all the national squads will target to clinch medals in the 2021 Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam should it push through with its schedule of late November to early December.
