DAVAO CITY - Some government buildings and households in the town of Kadingilan in Bukidnon province sustained partial damage after a 5.7-magnitude earthquake jolted Mindanao Monday evening (June 14). The earthquake's epicenter was traced at 12 kilometers northwest of Kadingilan.
Based on the latest situational report of the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO) of the municipality, a total of 81 households were partially damaged – 64 in Barangay Sibonga, nine in Barangay Poblacion, and eight in Barangay Kibogtok.
The report also bared that the buildings of the Philippine National Police (PNP), local government unit, including the mayor’s office, Barangay Poblacion Hall, the Sangguniang Bayan, and a Barangay Health Station sustained cracks on the walls and ceilings, while the new gymnasium had minor cracks on the floors.
The report added that seven barangays already reported no damage including Barangays Bagor, Pay-as, Malinao, Husayan, Pinamangguan, Kibalagon, and Salvacion. Meanwhile, the LDRRMO said the monitoring and assessment of 17 barangays is still on going.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake occurred around 10:38 p.m. and was shallow at a depth of 3 kilometers.
Kadingilan, Bukidnon felt the quake as a “very strong” shaking at Intensity VI, while it was felt as Intensity V as a “strong” earthquake in the neighboring towns of Damulog and Don Carlos in Bukidnon and in Wao in Lanao del Sur.
As of 2:31 p.m. Tuesday, 81 aftershocks have been recorded in Kadingilan, according to Phivolcs’ earthquake bulletin.
