Family of four found dead in Laguna; parricide, suicide eyed

A family of four was found dead inside their house in Biñan, Laguna on Tuesday in what police investigators believe could be a case of parricide and suicide.

Johnny Martinez, 46, was found dead and hanging inside the house that he shared with his live-in partner Jolly Espinas, 41 and their two children, one of them only one year old.

According to the report from the Biñan City Police, the bodies were discovered by a certain Melissa Loza at 1 p.m. in Barangay Canlalay, Biñan City, Laguna.

Police said that in their initial investigation, they found out Espinas and the two children sustained head injuries that caused their deaths.

Authorities added that both the children had cloth facemasks stuffed inside their mouths. A bloodied hammer was also recovered from the scene.

Martinez’ body was found hanging by the stairway with a nylon strap wrapped around his neck while his hands were covered with blood.

Police said that based on the account of eyewitnesses, at 11 p.m. on Monday, (June 14) they heard the baby crying.

Police also mentioned in the report that the couple had always been quarreling about financial problems.
