Former K-pop boy band B.A.P member and now solo artist Himchan, 31, tried to kill himself on June 13 after posting an apology on Instagram and writing, “Goodbye. Thank you for everything.”

Himchan attempted suicide at his home, according to a report by Korean media outlet Star News on June 14.

A representative told the media outlet that at the time, Himchan’s mother received a call from his acquaintances who became worried about him. Fortunately, what could have been a major accident was prevented.

Himchan is currently under a non-life threatening condition and is resting at home, the report added. It said Himchan blamed himself for his actions that caused scandals.

Last Feb. 24, the Seoul Central District Court found Himchan guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in her 20s at a pension house in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province in South Korea in July 2018.

The court sentenced Himchan to 10 months in prison and ordered him to undergo 40 hours of sexual violence treatment program. He filed an appeal in March.

In an Instagram post on June 13, Himchan said, “I would like to apologize to those who have believed and waited for me about all my actions so far. There are many reasons for speaking up late but I kept quiet as there are a lot of articles and stories that are different from the truth.”

“I apologize for worrying you about various incidents. Also, I am aware of my negligence and mistakes, and I apologize for everything. I hope everyone is happy. Please forgive me for not being able to repay those who have believed in me until now. I apologize and sorry again. I hope everyone will be happy without any accidents. Goodbye and thank you for everything,” he added. After posting this, he made a suicide attempt.

B.A.P debuted in 2012 and in 2019, Himchan left TS Entertainment. He released his solo single “Reason of My Life” on Oct. 25 last year but a day after, he was caught by the police for drunk driving in Gangnam, Seoul and was booked without detention.
