Senator Richard J, Gordon on Monday strongly suggested that fully-vaccinated Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and returning residents should be sent to their homes upon arrival in the country and not sent to quarantine in hotels.
‘’They are already sacrificing and toiling abroad. Why burden them further financially and prolong their time away from their families?’’ Gordon, chairman of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), asked.
Gordon said OFWs should instead be sent to quarantine at home, ‘’test by PCR on the 7th day under supervision of LGU (local government unit) or PRC and only start socializing upon receipt of negative result.’’
The chairman of the Senate justice and human rights committee stressed that everyone must still wear masks and practice social distancing thereafter in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
