2,000 Pasig scholars have yet to receive allowances due to e-wallet issues

Around 2,000 scholars of Pasig City have not yet received their allowances due to issues with their electronic-wallet or e-wallet accounts, Mayor Vico Sotto said on Monday (June 14).

Sotto said most of the 2,000 scholars have not resolved the problems with their PayMaya accounts, causing the unsuccessful transfer of their allowances.

“Kaya ibabalik ng PayMaya ang pera sa LGU, at manual payout muna tayo (That is why PayMaya will return the money to the local government unit, and we will conduct manual payout),” the mayor announced in a Facebook post.

The schedules of the manual payout will be announced soon by Pasig City Scholar (PCS) staff on their Facebook groups, he said.

“Thank you for your patience and cooperation! Keep making us proud, Pasig Scholars!”

According to Sotto, Pasig City currently has a total of 18,000 scholars.

In 2020, Sotto said the city has secured P1.2 billion for the purchase of learning devices for public school students and teachers.
