Gilas Pilipinas became one of the first teams to arrive in Clark, Pampanga ahead of the third window of the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers which starts Wednesday.

The national cagers entered Quest Hotel at about 4 p.m. Sunday, June 13, after a bus ride from the Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba, Laguna where they held a training bubble for two weeks.

South Korea, which Gilas will face twice at the Angeles University Foundation Sports and Cultural Center, was the first foreign team to check-in after its plane landed at the nearby Clark International Airport.

Four other teams, namely China, Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia and Thailand, are due to arrive either later in the evening or Monday, June 14.

All teams will undergo mandatory quarantine

The Gilas contingent led by Tab Baldwin, who will coach the team for the qualifiers and the Olympic Qualifying Tournament, included naturalized player Ange Kouame and Kai Sotto.

Sotto arrived last May 31 from the United States and had completed the mandatory quarantine for arriving passengers.

Kouame, meanwhile, will be eligible to play for the two games against South Korea on Wednesday, June 16 and Sunday, June 20 and Indonesia on Friday, June 18 after completing necessary requirements in order to be ruled eligible by FIBA.

Gilas needs just one win to clinch a place in the FIBA Asia Cup slated mid-August in Jakarta, Indonesia.
