KAWIT, Cavite - A simple flag-raising ceremony was held at the Aguinaldo Shrine in celebration of the 123rd Independence Day on Saturday (June 12).
For the second consecutive year, the commemoration was kept quiet and intimate due to community quarantine restrictions.
After the flag-raising ceremony, Mayor Angelo Emilio Aguinaldo led a wreath-laying ceremony at the final resting place of his grandfather, General Emilio Aguinaldo, located in the garden behind the house.
Gen. Aguinaldo first declared the Philippine Independence in his residence, now a shrine and museum, in 1898.
