Fair weather conditions will prevail over Luzon while the rest of the country will have cloudy skies with rain showers and thunderstorms on Saturday, June 12, as the Philippines celebrates its 123rd Independence Day.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Luzon, including Metro Manila, will have fair weather condition in the morning becoming cloudy in the afternoon with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
On the other hand, the state weather bureau said the Visayas and Mindanao will be generally cloudy skies with rain showers and thunderstorms.
“Light to moderate southwesterly surface windflow will prevail over the western section of the country with light to moderate coastal waters,” PAGASA said in a statement.
“Elsewhere, winds will be light and variable with slight coastal seas except during thunderstorms,” it added.
Based on the 4 p.m. weather update, the “monsoon trough” will prevail over the entire archipelago in the next 24 hours.
Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will likely affect Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Mimaropa in Southern Luzon due to the monsoon trough.
The agency warned that flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate to at times heavy rains.
Moreover, the trough will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of the country.
