Veteran director Augusto Salvador passes away

Another pillar of the local entertainment scene has passed away.

Multi-awarded film editor and veteran director Augusto "Augie" Salvador died due to cardiac arrest.

This was confirmed by Carina Salvador Cayanan, daughter of the movie director.

On Facebook, Carina changed her profile picture with Augusto's candid snap.

"Enjoy Heaven, my first love. I love you! I will miss you so much Pa!," her caption read.

The veteran film director is known for editing films of action stars Fernando Poe Jr., Rudy Fernandez, Phillip Salvador, Bong Revilla Jr., and Lito Lapid, to name a few.

Augusto also worked with Lino Brocka on “Insiang” and Ishmael Bernal’s “Relasyon.”

His other directorial film credits include “Eseng Ng Tondo,” “Ang Panday,” “Pakners,” “Gumising Ka Maruja,” and “Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara,” among others.
