A man has been arrested in Taguig City for online selling of car stickers that bear the logos and seals of the Office of the President, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and other government agencies.

In a statement, the NBI said arrested by agents of the bureau’s Special Task Force (NBI-STF) was Leon C. Cruz III.

NBI Officer-in-Charge Director Eric B. Distor said Cruz was arrested at his residence in Taguig City last June 4 during an entrapment operation.

“Recovered from Subject's possession are two (2) parcels containing five (5) stickers of the Office of the President of the Philippines and twenty-four (24) NBI stickers,” the NBI said.

“He was thereafter presented for inquest proceedings before the Office of the Prosecutor in Taguig City for violation of E.O. (Executive Order) 141 s.1999 and is presently detained at the NBI Detention Center,” it added.

The NBI said it conducted an operation after it received information that a person has been selling online car stickers with printed Presidential and NBI seal, and those of other offices like the Bureau of Customs, and Philippine Coast Guard.

It said the person has been using the names CARSTICKERS.PH, JAMMILKTEASUPY, and @leonc.cruziii in selling the items.

NBI agents, acting as poseur buyers, bought from CARSTICKERS.PH CARS and @leonc.cruziii which they found to both belong to Cruz and using the same address in Taguig City, it said.

It also said the “NBI-STF then coordinated with the management of the online selling platforms informing them of a possible conduct of law enforcement measures should Leon C. Cruz III continue selling.”

After investigators were able to place another order of stickers, they decided to proceed with the entrapment operation, it added.
