‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ manga author Gege Akutami takes one month break due to poor health

The manga source of "Jujutsu Kaisen", one of the hottest animes on the Netflix line-up, will have a temporary hiatus due to the health condition of mangaka Gege Akutami.


According to the official announcement of Weekly Shonen Jump, new volumes of the manga will not be available for the meantime as the author’s health recovers.

Akutami, in a handwritten note, explained that his leave will only be temporary. He said that he does not want to have an extended leave like other mangakas and reiterated that he wants to complete his manga at the soonest time.

“The suspension period should be about one month.Even if I say I’m sick, it’s not any serious illness. My mental health is completely fine, so do not worry about it. I’m really sorry I’ll have to keep you waiting. Once I come back, I’ll do my best with the serialization," he promised.

The first season of Jujutsu Kaisen’s anime version was recently released by Netflix and is one of the top trending series in the Philippines.

The series revolves around a high school kid names Yuji Itadori who ends up as a vessel for The King of Curses RyomenSukuna when he swallows one of the demon’s 20 fingers. He starts to attend Jujutsu High to become a Jujutsu Exorcist under the tutelage of Gojo Satoru.
