Foo Fighters concert for the vaccinated to reopen Madison Square Garden

Here’s another reason to get vaccinated.

American rock band the Foo Fighters is set to do a concert to reopen famed venue Madison Square Garden on June 20. This comes 15 months after concerts and shows were prohibited due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Foo Fighters concert, which will coincide with Father’s Day, will reopen the music and sports venue at 100 percent capacity and will be exclusive to fully vaccinated music fans only. This was announced by the band and MSG Entertainment as both are citing the upcoming show as a start of a return to normalcy as more and more people are getting vaccinated against Covid-19.

The Foo Fighters last played Madison Square Garden, dubbed as ‘The World’s Most Famous Arena’ last July 2018 on a sold-out, two-night stand for their “Concrete and Gold” tour.

For MSG Entertainment, The Foo Fighters show will be the first full concert, but other events have already been lined up by the entertainment production company that includes the closing night of the Tribeca Film Festival on June 19th, and later on June 22 and 23, rock guitarist and musician Trey Anastasio is set for two evenings at the Beacon Theatre.

“The Garden is ready to rock,” said executive chairman and CEO of MSG Entertainment, James Dolan. “We’ve been waiting for 15 months and are excited to finally welcome a packed house of roaring, fully vaccinated Foo Fighters fans to Madison Square Garden.”

Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl said, “And Madison Square Garden is going to feel that hard! New York, get ready for a long ass night of screaming our heads off together to 26 years of Foos!”

The Foo Fighters’ June 20 show is the first of a six-date schedule for their “25th 26th Anniversary Tour.”
