Mercedes Morales of Barangay Canlalay got her first jab of Sinovac’s CoronaVac under the A2 priority list.

“Okay sa akin, malakas and loob ko dahil kailangan para maganda ang kalusugan (It’s okay with me, I’m not scared because it’s needed for good health),” Morales told the Manila Bulletin.

“May natatakot, siguro iniisip na masakit. Pero wala naman akong nararamdaman (Some are scared, maybe they think it’s painful. But I don’t feel anything).”

Morales’ daughter Violeta Morales-Umel told the Manila Bulletin that everyone in her mother’s household goes out for work every day.

Worried that a family member might pass the virus to their nonagenarian matriarch, Morales-Umel made sure that her mother got vaccinated.

After her first jab, Morales now feels confident that she’ll be protected against severe symptoms of COVID-19.

In fact, she says she might advise her siblings aged 85, 89, and 93 to get vaccinated as well.
