Navotas gov't pauses vaccination of A-4 individuals

The local government of Navotas City temporarily stopped Wednesday the vaccination of those belonging to the A-4 category or the economic frontliners as it ran out of COVID-19 vaccine supply.

This came as the local government consumed all its Sinovac vaccine, and the Russia-made Sputnik V vaccine remained the only brand available to be administered, Mayor Toby Tiangco explained.

Since the country's supply of Sputnik V was only donated to the COVAX facility, the brand could only be administered to medical frontliners, senior citizens, and those with comorbidities, as determined by the World Health Organization, Tiangco added.

"Pansamantala po muna nating ipagpapaliban ang pagbabakuna ng first dose sa mga A-4 hanggang magkaroon tayo ng bakuna (We will have to temporarily stop administering the first dose of vaccine of those under A4 category until we get another supply)," Tiangco said.

For the meantime, residents qualified to get the vaccine may visit the city's vaccination centers, namely Kaunlaran High School, San Jose Academy, and Navotas City Hospital, for their first dose of vaccine.
