Ten years ago, searching for “BTS” on the internet would lead you to the abbreviation of the phrase “Behind The Scenes,” the private portion of a production. Today, the word has taken a whole new meaning online, arguably more recognized by people as the biggest South Korean boy band of this generation, otherwise known as the Bangtan Boys.

The septet, composed of Jin, J-Hope, Jungkook, Suga, RM, and V, has become such a huge success, winning awards and earning distinctions left and right. They continue to capture the hearts of all who listen to their songs and watch their performances. Within the past nine months, they have taken the no. 1 spot of the Billboard Hot 100 four times, an achievement unmatched since Justin Timberlake a decade and a half ago.

These Korean idols have broken a long, long list of records, and have done so many great things in the relatively short span of their music career. From creating their personal “Army” of fans all over the globe to attaining the fastest one million followers on TikTok, to getting the most number of views on YouTube in the span of a day for their music videos, to raking in billions of dollars into the Korean economy. They are—no questions asked—the top boy group in the world.

In their signature dapper-style, BTS debuted their stage performance for their latest chart topping single, “Butter,” toward the end of May. The song allowed the global phenomenon to win their fifth consecutive Top Social Artist Award at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards. Wearing pieces from the Alexander McQueen autumn/winter 2021-2022 collection, the Korean icons greeted their fans in trendsetting fashion at their recent Youtube and Tiktok appearances.

BTS dressed in Alexander McQueen for their 2020 KBS Song Festival Red Carpet

Alexander McQueen is only their latest fashion statement, although they have worn stuff from the house built by what the fashion press considers Britain’s baddest bad-boy designer. The perfectly coiffed artists have accoutred themselves before in other fashion namedroppables, such as Ralph Lauren, Prada, Celine, Givenchy, Dior, and Gucci. Alexander McQueen has taken on the task to outfit the boys a few times, not only for this year’s Billboard Music Awards, but also in 2019, and even in the 2020 KBS Song Festival Red Carpet.

The band has carried each maison with class and finesse, wearing it with their own style signature. Sleek tailoring—suits and tuxes—become them, as does street wear. Whatever they wear, the Army as well as fashion kibitzers finds them drool-worthy.

Smooth like butter, debonair, and dapper, BTS can pull off anything.
