Police Major Arturo Melchor, spokesperson of the Pangasinan Provincial Police Office, identified the suspect as Jeremy Capinpin, 21, of Barangay Wigan, Cordon, Isabela and Barangay Malilion, this town.
Capinpin was arrested for animal cruelty.
No less than the owner of the cow saw Capinpin killing the animal by pulling out its intestines through the anus using his bare hands.
The suspect tried to escape but was later apprehended by the responding barangay officials. He tested positive for alcohol during a breath check by the attending physician.
Police also reported that there were other complainants that proceeded to the police station to report the same kind of animal cruelty.
“May ilan na nagsabi na ang mga alagang baka nila ay binigti sa leeg, at iba din ay namatay katulad nang pagdukot sa kanilang mga bituka, more or less nasa limang residente (About five residents complained of animal cruelty. Some complainants said their cows were hanged. Some also said that the intestines of their cows were removed),” police said.
The kind of cruelty to the animals, police added, started only when the suspect arrived in the barangay.
