"Radio Drama Queen" Ester Chavez has passed away. She was 93.
The news was confirmed by Esther Misa Chavez, the star's daughter-in-law, via a Facebook post.
She shared how the TV and movie actress started her radio career at 17 and was still doing radio once a week at 87.
"It gave her purpose and delight to regale her audience. Her voice recognizable by generations of radio listeners," she said. "She was a star in Tia Dely’s daily radio drama."
In retirement, Ester was a "whip," she noted. "She could crack up her caregivers with her dry humor."
The late star was known for her Aling Chayong character on the radio drama “Ilaw ng Tahanan.”
Among her recent television and film projects were "Anna Liza," "Kaya Kong Abutin Ang Langit," and "Maging Sino Ka Man."
