On Saturday, June 5, various students from different schools and youth groups launched Student Aid Network to bring together the effort of students, parents, teachers, school officials, and members of the education community to demand the P10,000-student aid for their education-related expenses.

Student Aid Network Head Convenor Rey Niall Santos said that action must be taken to guarantee access of students to education during a time of crisis.

"We call for urgent action to ensure that students have access to learning opportunities and modes that safely provide quality education," Santos added.

The Network is lobbying for the provision of a one-time cash subsidy of P10,000 for each student and those who dropped out during the pandemic.

Santos said the subsidy will assist the students in their expenses related to distance learning, tuition, other fees, gadgets, and internet connectivity.

"We urge the Duterte government to adopt House Bill 9494 or the Emergency Student Aid and Relief Bill into law and allocate sufficient budget for cash subsidies to Filipino students. We enjoin our fellow students and youth to unite and fight for our basic rights," Santos added.
