DSWD, LGUs provide more than P2.3-M relief aid to ‘Dante’-affected families


The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the local government units (LGus) have so far provided more than P2.3-million worth of relief assistance to the families affected by the onslaught of Tropical storm “Dante”.

The DSWD’s Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) reported that as of 6 p.m., June 5, the relief aid extended to nine-most affected regions totals P2,387,084.44.

The affected regions are Central Luzon, Mimaropa, Calabarzon, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Davao, Soccksargen (South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, General Santos), and Caraga,

The DROMIC said the number of affected families increased to 29,170 or 122,042 persons in 467 barangays from the nine affected regions.

While, the number of evacuee-families decreased to 241 or 861 persons from the recorded 732 families or 2,753 persons on June 4. Currently, there are six evacuation centers catering to the needs of the displaced families.

The report showed that 14 families or 35 persons opted to stay with their relatives and/or friends.

The DROMIC reported that more than 3,000 houses were damaged, 147 of which were totally damaged and 3,062 were partially damaged.
