SM North EDSA receives Safety Seal certification
On June 5th, 2021, SM City North EDSA was named the first mall in Quezon City (QC) to be awarded the Safety Seal certification from the local government. This Safety Seal is given when the establishment shows it deserves the certification through proper implementation and strict compliance of government-mandated COVID-19 safety and health protocols.
This Safety Seal certification program is a collective effort of several government agencies working in tandem. This includes Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Health (DOH), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Tourism (DOT), and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), with the primary purpose of safeguarding the public and the consumers’ well-being while judiciously reopening and boosting the country’s economy.
At a simple but meaningful ceremony, presided over by the presence of QC Mayor Joy Belmonte and DTI Sec. Mon Lopez, the certification was given to SM City North EDSA, and this follows how SM Megamall received their own Safety Seal from the Mandaluyong LGU just recently.
In the case of SM North EDSA, there’s the implementation of the KyusiPass, along with other health and safety protocols, and how the mall partnered with the QC LGU for a safe and easily accessible vaccination site.
Other SM Malls in QC, including SM City Fairview, SM Novaliches, SM Sta. Mesa, and Cherry Congressional all expressed their readiness to get the certification as well.
In truth, it’s all part of the supreme effort on the part of SM Supermalls to be a string partner with the government in bringing about a steady recovery and proving resiliency is not just a fancy word or pipe dream.
