K-pop boy band VIXX’s member Ravi has apologized to girl group Red Velvet after a song with the same name in his new album “Roses” has stirred controversy and angered fans.

Ravi released his new album “Roses” on June 3 containing seven tracks including “Red Velvet” featuring Jamie, aka Park Jimin.

However, fans became mad because of the song’s lyrics, which include “I take a bite out of a red velvet cause I know you love me, R.E.D.V.E.L.V.E.T. so sweet babe, R.E.D.V.E.L.V.E.T. delicious.” He also included “Dumb dumb” and “Russian roulette,” which are Red Velvet’s songs.

Ravi’s fans defended him, saying that the song is about the red velvet cake and not about the girl group.

“First of all, I sincerely apologize to the members of the Red Velvet group mentioned in the lyrics and to the company staff. Also, I'm sorry to all the fans who watch over me. I’m sorry for apologizing late as I should have apologized quickly,” he said.

He added, “I thought a lot about in what order I should take responsibility for this. Today (June 4), through Red Velvet's agency, I directly apologized to the members and staff over the phone. But I still feel responsible and sorry for creating this situation.”

Ravi said because of the controversy, “we decided to remove the song from all music sites after consulting with the distributor.”

“Once again, I apologize to many of you who are disappointed in me over this,” he said.
