John Lloyd Cruz says Elias is 'very stubborn' like him and Ellen Adarna

John Lloyd Cruz is enjoying fatherhood.

He maintained his son with ex-partner Ellen Adarna is what keeps him going.

The actor recently signed a management contract with Maja Salvador's agency.

There is also talk that he is going to appear in a GMA7 sitcom as produced by Willie Revillame.

In an article published on Mega, John Lloyd admitted he and Ellen knew they were going to be parents.

"We wanted it. We know it was going to happen," he said in mixed English and Filipino.

Things became chaotic though following the passing of Ellen's father only two weeks before Elias was born.

Adding to it were their respective personal issues.

The seasoned actor described his three-year-old son as "very stubborn like me and like the mother."

He loves hanging out with him and watching him fall asleep.

"I like those moments, yung talagang galing kami sa buong araw na, very active kasi yung bata eh, and madalas struggle. He’s about to turn three. Very active siya so madalas hindi na siya nakakapag-nap in the afternoon. So pagka ganun, at you see him winding down at night, pipikit-pikit yung mata niya nilalabanan niya. ‘Yun yung gustong gusto ko na parang alam mo na napagod siya today so it’s a good day…” he said.

John Lloyd doesn't splurge on gifts or toys as he prefers that Elias uses his imagination.

"So, I like that moment ‘pag makikita mo siya, like nasa garden lang kami and he sees a stone and he pretends na it’s something else like a cave or a fish. Parang pag nakikita ko yung mga ganung moments parang napa-proud ako."

He's also proud whenever he would hear Elias say "please" and "thank you."

More than anything, John Lloyd hopes his child would find something he likes to do.

"And sana he can identify the things that he wants to do and enjoy it. Kasi wala eh, I don’t know. I just want him to acknowledge that his life is a big blessing to me and in the process, sana makita niya rin how to be a blessing to others. Parang wala pa ako mahihiling ngayon kasi sa totoo lang buhay niya ‘yun eh. I want him to live his own life. I’m not gonna call the shots for him definitely.”
