Makati City postpones 2nd dose of Pfizer-vaccinated residents

The Makati City local government postponed the administration of the second dose of Pfizer-inoculated residents set on Wednesday, June 2, due to the Department of Health's (DOH) failure to deliver the needed type of syringe for the vaccine.

"Para sa inyong kaalaman, hindi po matutuloy ang second dose ng vaccination ng Pfizer sa Makati Medical Center ngayong araw dahil sa hindi pagka-deliver ng Department of Health sa lungsod ng AD syringe na requirement sa bakunang Pfizer (For your information, the distribution of the second dose of Pfizer vaccines at the Makati Medical Center for today has been postponed due to the Department of Health's failure to deliver the AD (Auto Disable) syringe that is a requirement for the Pfizer vaccine)." it said in a Facebook post.

AD syringes are designed as a single use syringe, with an internal mechanism blocking the barrel once depressed so it cannot be depressed again. This type of syringe is needed to ensure that the vaccine will be delivered properly and not a single drop will go to waste.

The LGU said that those who were scheduled for Wednesday to receive their second dose of the Pfizer vaccine will have to wait for their new schedule from the city government via a text message coming from #BakunaMakati.
