The storm will likely move north northwestward beginning Wednesday night as the tropical cyclone moves over mainland Luzon. Afterwards, it may emerge over the West Philippine Sea via the Lingayen Gulf on Thursday early morning, June 3.

“Due to increased vertical wind shear and land interaction, this tropical storm is forecast to maintain its strength until it makes landfall over mainland Luzon. Further land interaction with the rugged terrain of mainland Luzon will weaken Dante into a tropical depression (Wednesday night),” PAGASA said.

The agency said Dante will likely be in the vicinity of Taysan, Batangas by 5 p.m. Wednesday, may reach the vicinity of San Carlos City, Pangasinan by 5 a.m. Thursday.

By then, Dante is forecast to weaken into a tropical depression and will likely be 75 km northwest of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte by Thursday afternoon.

On Friday, June 4, Dante would be located 175 km West of Basco, Batanes, and may be 115 km north northwest of Itbayat, Batanes by Friday afternoon.
