Almost P1-M shabu seized from couple in Pasig City

Almost P1 million worth of shabu was seized by the Eastern Police District-Drug Enforcement Unit (EPD-DEU) from a couple who are into drug peddling in Pasig City, Monday night (May 31), a belated police report released on Wednesday (June 2) showed.

Maj. Darwin Guerrero, EPD-DEU chief, identified the suspects as Carl Jay Buenaventura, 24, and Rose Corpuz, 22.

Initial investigation of the police showed that an undercover policeman from the team of the EPD-DEU headed by Guerrero transacted with Buenaventura and Corpuz at a house on Dr. Sixto Avenue in Barangay Rosario, Pasig around 8 p.m.

Little did they know, they were selling shabu to a police officer.

The couple told the undercover policeman to meet them at a house located at No.144 on Dr. Sixto Avenue in Barangay Rosario as they were also delivering shabu there.

The EPD-DEU said the house is owned by Raquel Vasquez, 42.

After accepting the marked money as payment for the shabu, the policemen pounced on the suspects and apprehended Buenaventura and Corpuz, and their two customers who were caught red-handed buying illegal drugs from them.

Police identified the customers as Vasquez, and Thomas Christian Jimenez, 28.

Seized from them were 137 grams of suspected shabu with a street value of P931,600.

Guerrero said they got a tip from concerned citizens about the drug peddling activities of the couple.

According to the EPD-DEU chief, the couple has been arrested in 2018 for drug-related charges.

Buenaventura and Corpuz are both on the police drug watch-list of the EPD.
