2 farmers yield P500K shabu

TACLOBAN CITY – The Regional Special Enforcement Team of PDEA 8 has seized this year’s biggest haul of suspected shabu from two farmers in a buy-bust operation Sunday (May 30) in Brgy. Luntad, Palo, Leyte.

Intelligence Officer 2 Jeffrey Placido, identified the suspects as Arsenio Tiuzon, 39, farmer, listed as High Valued Target (HVT) of PDEA 8, and Ericson Berha, 40, farmer, both residents of Brgy. Amahit, Barugo, Leyte.

At least twelve sachets containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu worth P250,000 were bought by a poseur buyer from the suspects.

The procured item was estimated to weigh 75 grams with an estimated street value of P510,000.

The team also recovered from the suspects the P250,000 buy-bust money, a self-sealing plastic, and other pieces of evidence.

The two suspects are temporarily detained at the custodial facility of PDEA in Leyte.

They will be facing charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165 of the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
