Call center agent given new bike by MMDA traffic czar after she lost old one to thieves

Either Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) traffic czar Edison "Bong" Nebrija has a soft spot for bicycle riders, or for people who persevere to make ends meet. Or maybe both.

Nebrija shared on his Facebook Saturday, May 29, the story of Coleen, a business process outsourcing (BPO) agent who recently lost her bicycle to suspected thieves along EDSA. She apparently sought help from Nebrija afterward.

"She (Coleen) leaves work at 1:00 in the morning and when she got to the bike rack her bike was gone and the lock itself was bolt cut," the MMDA official wrote.

"I asked her if she already went to the Barangay to ask if they have CCTV and she said even the mall didn’t have one. I already knew then that even if we had one it wouldn’t be that clear to know who took her bike," he noted.

So what did EDSA's "Eagle Alpha" do? Well, e made a phone call, pulled some strings a scored a new bike for Coleen.

"This morning we turned over the Trinks Mountain Bike to Coleen together with a reflectorized vest she could use especially that she bikes home in the middle of the night," he told his followers.

"So have fun with your bike Coleen and stay safe. Make sure you secure your bike well so it wouldn’t be stolen again," added MMDA's top traffic disciplinarian.

One could tell that Nebrija was touched by his encounter with the hardworking call center agent as he would later use his picture with her as his Facebook cover photo.
