Bulacan Gov. Daniel R. Fernando and Dr. Corazon Flores, regional director of the DOH Central Luzon for Health Development, signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the medical program during the “Seremonya ng Paglagda sa Kasunduan Medical Assistance Program Para sa Bulakenyo” on Thursday, May 27, at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium, City of Malolos.

Senator Risa Hontiveros witnessed the MOA signing, along with Bulacan Vice Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, Provincial Administrator Antonia Constantino, and some of the chiefs of government hospitals in the province.

“Yung partnership ng PGB at ng DOH na aking sinaksihan ay ‘yung medical assistance program ng DOH. Ang pwede pong maka-avail dito ay ‘yung mga mahihirap at walang access masyado na mamamayan ng lalawigan ng Bulacan sa mga health services ng DOH at ang proseso ay tulad pa rin po ng dati, gagabayan po kayo ng PGB particularly PHO,” (The partnership of the Bulacan provincial government and the DOH that I witnessed is the medical assistance program of the DOH. Those who can avail of this are the needy who have no much access to health services of Bulacan province, and the process is the same as usual, the Bulacan government will guide you, particularly the PHO),” Hontiveros said.

The program will allocate certain funds for government hospitals in Bulacan to help eligible patients who are seeking consultation, rehabilitation, examination, and hospital confinement under the zero-bill policy.

Meanwhile, Fernando expressed his appreciation for all the support and aids that the province has been receiving.

He said since COVID-19 broke out last year, the Bulakenyos showed their unity and won the fight versus COVID-19 in 2020.

“Salamat sa ating sama-samang pagsisikap, mahaba-haba pa po ang laban subalit tayo po ay ‘di dapat panghinaan ng loob. Patuloy po tayong lalaban ‘di lang sa virus na ito kundi sa lahat ng banta laban sa ating kalusugan at mga buhay,” (Thanks for our united efforts, the fight is still long but don’t be discouraged. Let’s continue fighting not only this virus but all threats to our health and lives),” Fernando said.

Based on the MOA, “the provincial government of Bulacan shall ensure the availability of medicines, medical supplies, and other health care services in provincial and district hospitals while the hospitals are responsible to facilitate the implementation of approved medical assistance to eligible patients, ensure availability of medicines, medical supplies, and other health care services needed by the eligible patients, and ensure that in no case shall the grant of assistance to eligible patients be delegated and/or transferred to a non-government organization or similar organizations among others.” (Freddie C.
