Student pilot dies as trainer plane crashes in La Union

A 25-year old student pilot died when a trainer plane crashed off the waters of Caba town in La Union on Wednesday, May 26.

A report reaching Camp Crame from the La Union police, said the crash of a Tecnam P2010 twin engine trainer plane with body number RP-C8230 occurred at around 11: 30 a.m.

“The distance of the crash site from the nearest seashore is about 300 meters and about 30 feet deep,” the report read.

Search and rescue teams from the local police, Aviation Security Group, the Philippine Coast Guard and the Philippine Navy were immediately deployed in the area.

The student pilot from Apalit, Pampanga was immediately taken to the nearest hospital but was declared. HIs body is now at a mortuary in Aringay, La Union.

“According to witnesses the Tecnam twin engine aircraft was seen circling in the air and a loud explosion was heard before the crash,” the police report stated.
