Drivers and delivery-partners of Grab Philippines can now attend "upskilling" classes online through the GrabAcademy digital platform.
The superapp announced on Wednesday, May 26, that GrabAcademy is now fully online to provide its partners with free and equitable access to new learning and development opportunities to help them become more competitive in the digital-first economy.
With this, new learning and development courses for Grab partners across the following three pillars are now accessible on the driver app:
• Safety across the platform -- features specialized learning modules on proper food handling and delivery, proper sanitation of vehicles and gears, data protection, crime prevention and detection, as well as anti-harassment.
• Growing within the platform -- features refresher courses on the general code of conduct, driver-cancellation policy, and service quality standards.
• Thriving beyond the platform -- features courses on entrepreneurship, baking, farming, and milk tea-making for additional skills and external opportunities.
"Our driver- and delivery-partners have spent many years providing essential services to all our kababayans, and as a community partner to our Ka-Grab, we are committed to supporting their everyday needs and their long-term success. Our GrabAcademy is a clear expression of our long-term commitment to the development and well-being of our partners - both within and beyond our platform," Grab Philippines Country Head Grace Vera Cruz said during the online event.
Grab has also partnered with Microsoft to provide its partners access to Microsoft’s Digital Literacy certification program through the Grab driver app.
With this newest program, Grab partners can complete six basic courses covering computer basics, online communication, and creating and managing digital content which will be available in English and Filipino.
"Building digital skills and literacy is critical for us at Microsoft, especially today. COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) has made digital transformation critical, and accelerated a global wave of technology adoption. But embracing digital opportunities requires having the necessary digital skills," Microsoft Philippines Country Manager Andres Ortola said.
"This means empowering learning, supporting public policies for reskilling, and encouraging continuous improvements. Alongside the adoption of technology, we have to empower the individuals within our workforces and communities with the skills and knowledge they need today, and tomorrow," he added.
For the part of Grab, Vera-Cruz expressed the firm's excitement over its team-up with Microsoft to help not only driver-partners but also the country in its economic recovery.
"Through this partnership, we hope to deliver these programs that will provide more holistic training support for our partners to help them become more competitive in a digital-first Philippines," Vera-Cruz said.
Grab said partners will receive a certificate of completion upon accomplishing the GrabAcademy courses, which they can easily register for using their driver app.
