The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said on Thursday, May 20, that it will conduct an investigation against a Quezon City barangay captain for participating in a videoke singing session without wearing a face mask during a birthday party.

The incident went viral after a Facebook post showed that barangay captain Ric Corro of Barangay Alicia was seen singing at a birthday party in Bulacan.

In an ABS-CBN report, DILG Undersecretary for Barangay Affairs Martin Diño said that Corro violated health protocols after attending a social gathering and singing without a face mask.

Corro, for his part, said he was unable to turn down the request of the other guests after being egged on to join the videoke singing session where the celebration was conducted inside a residence.

He added that it is very difficult to sing with the face mask on.

The DILG has already sent a show-cause order against Corro to explain his side.
