Omega repels Playbook's Fanny for strengthened MPL upper bracket chances

Smart Omega scored a crucial 2-0 sweep over also-ran Laus Playbook Esports to boost its Playoffs upper bracket bid in the MPL Philippines Season 7 on Saturday night, May 15.

Adrian "Toshi" Bacallo's Esmeralda emerged as a double-sided wrecking machine as Omega repulsed LPE's Fanny shenanigans at the hands of Nowee "Ryota" Macasa in Game 2.

Toshi dished out a massive 121K damage while also tanking 103K damage from the opposing side to hit a perfect record of eight kills on top of seven assists and power the 23-19 win in 16 minutes.

It was a one-sided affair in Game 1 as Jankurt "KurtTzy" Matira's Selena fueled Omega's unstoppable assault en route to a 16-2 romp.

KurtTzy was right on-target with the Abyssal Arrows to set up the tempo for the boys in black early on and get pickoffs for a flawless record of six kills and three assists.

Salic "Hadjizy" Imam's Granger (5-0-5 kill-death-assist) also stepped up on the offensive even as EJ "Heath" Esperanza's Mathilda chipped in eight assists to go with three kills against a lone death.

Game 1 stats

Coach Tony "Ynot" Senedrin's Omega reclaimed the No. 2 spot in Group B as it hiked its score to 20 points on an even 6-6 slate.

On the other hand, coach Brian "Panda" Lim's LPE, which sat at the bottom of Group B with eight markers, suffered its fourth consecutive defeat and 10th overall with three victories.
