The suspects were identified as Ariel Consolacion Basas, 54, and Emily Bathan Basas, 44.

They were arrested after allegedly collecting P30,000 in extortion money from PSSgt. Rodyl Armada, a police investigator assigned at the Tukuran Municipal Police Station.

Armada himself sought assistance from higher-ups after the suspects threatened to file an administrative complaint against him.

The Basas were reportedly not satisfied with the settlement brokered by Armada on a vehicular accident involving Ariel’s brother-in-law.

Police confiscated a P500 marked bill and boodle money amounting to P29,000.

The suspects are facing possible charges of robbery extortion.
