Lt. Col Joefel Siason, Koronadal City police chief, said Wednesday the violations are mostly for non-wearing of face masks in public places and non-observance of curfew for non-workers from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.

He said they also impounded 47 motorcycles owned by the violators that lack proper documents.

The police official said the intensified operations, which started last May 3, were in line with directives from the city government, through Executive Orders (EO) No. 16 and 16-A issued by Mayor Eliordo Ogena.

“They were given proper warnings and allowed to go home after promising to comply with the COVID-19 measures and the MGCQ and MECQ guidelines,” Siason told reporters.

He acknowledged that there are still residents who continue to ignore these measures, especially the wearing of face masks.

“We need the cooperation of everyone so we can prevent further transmission of COVID-19 and lower the number of new infections,” he said.
