Man, aunt killed in Negros Occidental road collision

BACOLOD CITY — A man and his aunt were killed in a road collision in Sitio Mandayao, Barangay Mansalanao, La Castellana, Negros Occidental last Monday.

Killed in the accident were Regie Binga-an, 21, and his aunt Norla Binga-an, both residents of Guihulngan, Negros Oriental.

Police Staff Sgt. Jun Pol Baltazar, duty investigator of La Castellana Municipal Police Station, said the victims were on their way home when an allegedly speeding pickup truck driven by Alfred Gonzalgo, 35, of Jimalalud, Negros Oriental, hit their motorcycle at the curved part of the road.

Baltazar said the pickup truck also ran over the victims and dragged the motorcycle into a sugarcane plantation where it had its final stop.

Baltazar said the victims were wearing helmets but they died on the spot after suffering from serious injuries.

Baltazar said Gonzalgo was released from police custody Tuesday after the lapse of the 18-hour reglementary detention.

He added that Gonzalgo is willing to extend assistance to the victims’ families.

Meanwhile, two persons, including a minor, also died while two others were injured in a motorcycle collision

in Hacienda Layagon, Barangay Lalagsan, La Castellana Sunday.
