Makati City starts using Pfizer vaccines

The local government unit (LGU) of Makati City has started administering Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccines to its residents at the Makati Medical Center (MMC) on Wednesday (May 12).

The inoculation was conducted at the Auditorium on the 8th floor of MMC’s Tower 2.

In an online forum, Mayor Abigail "Abby" Binay said the MMC can inoculate 400 to 500 individuals per day.

She said the Department of Health (DOH) gave the city a 5-day deadline to administer the Pfizer vaccines.

“So dapat po by Sunday matapos na namin (We must finish giving all the Pfizer vaccines by Sunday),” she said.

The Makati LGU had earlier received 5,000 Pfizer vaccines from the national government.

As of May 1, a total of 36,514 individuals have been vaccinated in Makati City.
