In a Facebook post, the diocese urged the public to send the names of their loved ones who died from COVID-19 so they may be included in the Mass.

"Please send to the Diocese of Cabanatuan page and your Official Parish Facebook Pages the names of your loved ones and acquaintances who have passed away due to COVID-19 disease," read the post.

"Our priests will remember them in their Masses this coming Thursday," it further read.

On May 8, the Archdiocese of Manila also held a special Mass remembering all those who have died because of COVID-19.

“The whole Archdiocese will mourn for our dead during this pandemic but with great hope given by the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus; we bring together at the altar of the Lord all the tears and sorrows of our people for their loved ones,”Apostolic Administrator of Manila Bishop Broderick Pabillo said.

Last month, Bishop Pabillo issued a Pastoral Instruction titled, “Panginoon Kaawaan mo Kami” asking all parishes and religious communities to hold a Holy Hour in front of the Blessed Sacrament on May 5 to 7, at 6 p.m. for the special intention of frontliners (May 5), for the sick (May 6) and for the dead (May 7).
