An icon of 80’s hair metal is no more.

Model and actress Tawny Kitaen, whose music video appearances in the late 80’s became iconic symbols of 80’s hard rock has died. She was 59.

Kitaen appeared in a string of music videos for the band Whitesnake, the most iconic of which was 1987’s “Here I Go Again.” On said video, Kitaen danced and did cartwheels on the hood of a Jaguar. She struck quite the sexy image with that see-through dress, long legs and big hair.

Whitesnake lead singer David Coverdale tweeted on Saturday: “Just woke up to some very sad, unexpected news. Waiting on confirmation…but if it is true, my sincere condolences to her children, her family, friends and fans.”

Rolling Stone magazine said that her May 8 death was confirmed by the Orange County Coroner’s Office although the cause of death was not mentioned.

Born Julie E. Kitaen in San Diego, Kitaen was also an actress who co-starred with Tom Hanks on the latter’s 1984 comedy film Bachelor Party. Kitaen also played roles on TV series such as Married…With Children and Seinfeld.

Still, Kitaen is best remembered through her sultry characterizations of those glam metal music videos. She appeared in a string of Whitesnake music videos that includes “Is This Love,” “The Deeper The Love” and “Still Of The Night,” and eventually married band singer David Coverdale in 1989. They divorced in 1991.
