Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano has instructed the city police to crackdown on street children who are flouting health protocols by not wearing face masks while roaming city streets and begging for alms which is a violation of the city’s ordinance.
Rubiano also asked the city Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) office to coordinate with the local police under Col. Cesar Paday-os to check on the reported growing number of street children or the so-called “batang hamog” playing on the streets and not wearing face masks.
Paday-os was also told by Rubiano to coordinate with the DSWD before rounding up street children.
The city police chief said they have apprehended children 10-years-old and below and turned them over to the Social Development Center of the DSWD located along Pildera St., Pasay City.
Paday-os said for the 11-year-old and above, they will be turned over to the Pasay Youth Home.
He said the police, on the instruction of Rubiano, will arrest all individuals violating all existing city ordinances and will be fined.
