QC hospitals never prescribed Ivermectin to patients — Mayor Belmonte

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte on Monday said the city hospitals never prescribed the use of anti-parasitic drug Ivermectin to its patients as a cure against COVID-19.

“It is very clear here in the local government we never prescribed Ivermectin to our patients in our hospitals, we do not recommend its use,” Mayor Belmonte said in an interview with ANC.

“We do not tell the people to take drugs that are not approved or recommended by the Food and Drug Administration,” she added.

Congressmen Mike Defensor and Rodante Marcoleta gave free Ivermectin to residents of the city on April 29.

Mayor Belmonte said it is better to wait for medical trials on the use of Ivermectin.

“I would like to recommend that let us wait for these trials to bare conclusive actions whether they’re really helpful or not,” she said.

“Yun yung aking advice kasi kung uunahan mo naman na sasabihin mong hindi siya dapat gamitin or mali siya or nakakasama siya hindi rin naman wala rin namang conclusion about at wala din naman studies to show that they really are bad (That's my advice because if you start by saying that it shouldn't be used or it's wrong or it can harm, there's also no conclusion about and there are also no studies to show that they are really bad),” she added.
