Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera took charge with his signature Akai in the deciding Game 3 as Nexplay Esports took its sweet 2-1 revenge over rival Execration in the MPL Philippines Season 7 on Friday night, May 7.

Yawi’s Akai set up multiple pickoffs with his Hurricane Dance ultimate that enabled NXP to build an insurmountable lead early in Game 3 en route to a 17-5 romp in 18 minutes.

John Paul “H2wo” Salonga’s Ling and Dexter “Exort” Martinez’s Lunox were the usual finishers of Yawi’s initiations, allowing them to easily secure their core items and go online early.

Yawi finished with a game-high nine assists to go with a kill against only two deaths while Exort tallied a 7-1-7 kill-death-assist record and H2wo went perfect with four kills and six assists.

It was actually a reverse sweep for Setsuna “Dogie” Ignacio’s team after Exort’s brilliant play on Lunox sparked NXP’s comeback 18-13 win in Game 2.

Dogie and his crew bounced back from a 2-0 defeat to Aura PH last Sunday and solidified its hold of No. 3 in Group B with 15 points on a 5-6 series record.

Billy “Z4pnu” Alfonso’s Execration suffered its fifth straight loss and remained at No. 4 with 13 points on a 3-7 slate.

Execration was not able to capitalize on its thrilling 33-minute victory in Game 1 behind the clutch Abyssal Arrows from Patrick “E2MAX” Caidic’s Selena.
