A mother and her daughter have been arrested and charged by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for allegedly hacking a woman’s Facebook (FB) account and extorting money to prevent further spread of the posted sex videos.

In a statement, NBI Officer-In-Charge Director Eric B. Distor identified the two arrested suspects as Jingky Joy A. Sena and her mother, Maricar.

The NBI said the two suspects were arrested last April 28 by agents of the NBI-National Capital Region (NBI-NCR) after they withdrew the money sent by the complainant through the Palawan Express Branch in Sta. Mesa, Manila.

“Subjects Jingky Joy Sena and her mother, Maricar Sena were presented for Inquest proceedings before the Office of the Prosecutor of the City of Manila for Robbery Extortion in relation to Republic Act No. 10175 otherwise known as the Cyber Crime Prevention Act of 2012, and violation of RA 9995, otherwise known as the ‘Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009,’” it said.

The statement stated that the NBI-NCR acted on the complaint of the female victim who came all the way from her home province of Sarangani.

“The victim disclosed that Subject Jingky hacked her FB account and changed its password..., and then sent several sex videos of the victim thru the victim’s FB account to her friends,” it added.

Later, the NBI said, Jingky demanded money from the complainant to stop the spread of the sex videos.

The complainant admitted that she had sent money to Jingky and Maricar last April 9 and 11, also through Palawan Express.

The NBI said that during the operation conducted last April 28, initially arrested was Maricar who was “caught red-handed in Palawan Express Pureza Branch, Sta. Mesa, Manila while receiving the P1,500 and P500 in Subject Maricar Sena's name sent from Palawan Express Gen. Santos City Branch.”

“After the arrest of Subject Maricar, she revealed that she was only instructed by her daughter (Jingky) to get the money from Palawan Express,” it said.

It was Maricar who told to NBI where to find Jingky who was also arrested and charged, it added.
