May 10 deadline to apply for vacant SC's justice post

Supreme Court

Applicants to a vacant Supreme Court’s (SC) associate justice post have until May 10 to submit their documents to the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC).

The lone vacancy in the 15-member SC was a result of the promotion last April 5 of then Associate Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo as the 27th Chief Justice and head of the judiciary.

The JBC – the constitutional office that accepts, screens and nominates appointment to the judiciary – said that applicants must visit its website, jbc.judiciary.gov.ph/, and access the Online Application Scheduler.

In its announcement, the JBC said that “after filling in the required information in the Online Application Scheduler, they (applicants) will receive a computer-generated letter of intent in their e-mail addresses.”

“They must submit the complete and accurate digitized versions of (a) the letter of intent and (b) the documentary requirements through electronic mail to [email protected] on their selected date and time of appointment in the Online Application Scheduler,” it said.

It added that “the date of actual receipt of the complete documentary requirements (sent through e-mail) shall be deemed as the date of filing.”
