The victim was identified as Jessierae Wabe. The suspect, Jaypee Pajaron, 25, was arrested after the incident.
The two former lovers are neighbors in Magsasay Hills, Barangay Poblacion where the attack happened around 6:30 p.m. last Monday.
Police said the woman is already living with another man while the suspect is already married.
Apparently, the suspect had yet to move on from his failed relationship with the victim, police said.
Police Lt. Col. Junnel Caadlawon of the Toledo police said the woman was buying food in a store when the suspect arrived and stabbed the woman.
The woman tried to fight back but the man continued stabbing her.
The blows only ended when the man was not able to pull out the knife after it pierced through the woman’s back.
The suspect went on to flee but was arrested about an hour after the incident.
