Members and pensioners of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) may avail of its coronavirus disease (COVID-19) emergency loan program until June 21.

Under the COVID-19 emergency loan program, qualified borrowers with existing emergency loans could borrow up to P40,000.

“Open po ito sa lahat ng active members at ating mga active old-age pensioners (It’s open to all our active members and active old-age pensioners),” Nora Malubay, GSIS Core Business Sector Executive Vice President said Wednesday, May 5, in an interview with CNN Philippines.

Qualified to apply are members who are in active service and not on leave of absence without pay; have no pending administrative or criminal cases; and have a net take-home pay of not lower than P5,000 after all required monthly obligations have been deducted.

Malubay said members and pensioners can apply for the loan through kiosks.

“Pwedeng online. [Pero] mas mabilis po sa kiosks, one or two days lang po nac-credit na (It can be done online. But it’s faster in kiosks, it can be accredited after one to two days only),” she added.

However, to ensure safety, the state pension fund is also offering contactless loan applications through its web-based electronic GSIS member online (eGSISMO) system.

The GSIS will also accept applications submitted through drop boxes located in the lobbies of its offices.

The agency offered the same loan program in 2020.
